I keep seeing people in the Heights use the wrong kind of caulk for their stucco cracks.

My neighbor hired a handyman who used basic silicone on a hairline crack near his door, and it split again in under six months. I've always been told you need a high-grade elastomeric sealant that moves with the house, especially with our big temperature swings. He spent $80 on that quick fix and now has to redo it. What's the best product you've found for stucco repair around here?

Totally agree about needing the right caulk that can stretch. Saw the same thing happen on my own house before I learned better. The trick is to clean out the crack really well first, get all the old stuff and dust out, then use a backer rod if it's deep before you apply the sealant. I've had good luck with that Sikaflex brand stuff from the hardware store, it stays flexible for years.

Man, I gotta disagree on the Sikaflex. I used it on a concrete joint last year and it got all brittle and cracked after one winter. Maybe it's the sun here? I switched to a simple silicone sealant for exterior stuff and it's held up way better.
