Had a water heater flood my whole garage last Tuesday - worst day of homeownership so far
I went out to grab a shovel and stepped in about an inch of water. The old 40 gallon tank finally gave out. Took me 3 trips to Lowe's to get the right fittings and a flex line. Had to rent a wet vac from the hardware store on Lomas. Anyone else deal with a burst tank before?

OH COME ON, a flooded garage is barely a problem. You just had to dry out some concrete and replace a tank, but at least your house is still standing with no structural damage. I've seen posts about people's whole basements caving in from burst pipes, so consider yourself lucky it was just the garage. Honestly, water heaters are supposed to fail eventually, and this just means you get to upgrade to a newer, better model.

Still not sure I'd brush it off that easily. A flooded garage can ruin stored items, tools, holiday decorations, maybe even your car if it's parked in there. Plus drying out concrete properly takes time and money, and mold can set in fast if you miss a spot. It's not the same as losing a basement, but it's not nothing either.
