Found a cheap way to stop my garage door from freezing shut
This winter, my garage door in the Northeast Heights kept freezing to the concrete pad. I tried a heat gun, which was a pain. Then I saw a tip online about using a silicone spray on the rubber seal. I bought a can of WD-40 Specialist Silicone for about eight bucks and sprayed a thin line along the bottom seal. It's been three weeks and two snowstorms, and the door hasn't stuck once. Has anyone else found a different trick that works for our dry, cold Albuquerque winters?

Garage doors freezing shut is a real issue here lol. Silicone spray works but sometimes just clearing the ice with a scraper is enough. People make it sound worse than it is.

Yeah the scraper method is what I do too. I keep a plastic ice scraper by the door just for that bottom seal. A quick scrape along the track and the door usually pops right free, takes two minutes.
