Serious question, I thought I had to finish every project I started, then my sister asked me one thing that stopped me cold
Honestly, I had like 9 half-done projects sitting in my garage for almost 2 years and I felt terrible about all of them. Last month my sister came over to help me clean and she pointed at a half-built bookshelf I started in 2022 and asked why I even wanted it in the first place. I couldn't answer her. That was the moment it hit me, I wasn't stuck because I ran out of time or skill, I was stuck because I kept starting stuff just to prove I could do it. So I took every project and wrote one line on an index card about who it was actually for or why I cared. Turns out 6 of the 9 had no real reason, they were just things I saw on YouTube or Pinterest. I gave away 2 of them to a neighbor who actually wanted a workbench and tossed the rest. The 3 that stayed on the list finally got real work time because I stopped feeling guilty about the others. Has anyone else done the index card thing or something like it to figure out which projects to keep?
