Put down my half-finished basement remodel after watching a YouTube video about foundation cracks
I had this whole plan to frame out the basement myself. Spent $400 on lumber last month, got the walls half done. Then I saw a video about a guy in Denver who ignored a hairline crack and ended up with a $12k repair. My house was built in 1987 and I'm pretty sure I have the same crack near the sump pump. Now I can't touch the project until I get a structural engineer out here. Has anyone else stopped mid-project after spotting something scary in their foundation?

Watched that same video and now I'm scared to look at my own foundation too closely.

Not even kidding, I spent 3 hours staring at my own basement floor last night with a FLASHLIGHT after watching that same video. Found a crack so tiny I'm pretty sure it's just where the concrete settled, but now my brain is convinced my house is gonna split in two. My wife keeps asking when the framing will be done and I just show her the crack again.
