My wife asked me why I stopped working on the garden shed.

She said 'It's not about finishing, it's about the quiet hour you get to yourself.' I realized I was so focused on the end result, I forgot how much I liked the process of building it. Has anyone else found that changing your goal from 'done' to 'time spent' helps you pick a project back up?

My buddy Dave got really into fixing up an old boat. He was stressed about getting it in the water until he started just going to the dock to sand it for an hour after work. Said the sound of the water and the rhythm of sanding became the whole point.

Totally get that. I've started seeing chores as protected time for my own thoughts instead of just tasks to check off.
