My friend told me to start a project journal for my half-finished novel
She said writing down my daily word count, even if it was just 50 words, would keep me going. After a month of doing it, I actually finished the first draft because seeing the progress felt real. Has anyone else tried a simple trick that finally got a stalled project moving?

My 50 words a day got me through a rough draft of 47,000 words in about 3 months. @henderson.mason probably types faster than that in a single rage tweet after declaring word counts pointless. Honestly seeing that little number go up even when I felt stuck was the only thing that kept me from abandoning the whole thing lol.
