Can we talk about the 90% stat for abandoned side projects? I read it in a library book in Boise and it stung
I was flipping through a book on coding at the Boise public library last week and a line said roughly 90% of personal software projects never get finished. I sat there and counted mine on my fingers and got to 6 out of 7. The one that stung was a meal planner I started in January, got the recipe list working, and then quit when the calendar part got hard. The book didn't give a source for the number but it matched what I see in my own folder of half-built stuff. Now I keep the meal planner open on a second screen as a nudge and I'm trying to just get the grocery list export done, nothing else. Does anyone else have a set rule for when a project is truly dead versus just parked?
