Vent: made $680 in one weekend on my side gig, then $0 the next weekend
Last month I booked 3 lawn cleanups in two days and cleared $680, mostly because a storm hit my area and everyone wanted branches hauled off at once. Then the next weekend I sat by my phone with zero calls, and I started wondering if that good week was just luck or if I did something right that I forgot to repeat. So how do you all tell the difference between a fluke and real momentum when you're building something on the side?

A storm doing your marketing for you is not momentum, my friend, that's just the sky handing you a pity check. Same thing happened to me with snow shoveling a couple winters back, one big dump and I felt like a CEO, then it melted and I was back to staring at my phone like a guy waiting on a text that never comes. The real test is whether you get calls when the weather is boring, because that means people found you on purpose instead of out of panic. Track where your jobs come from for a month and you'll see pretty fast if you built anything or just got lucky with bad weather.
